March 18 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm CDT

Discover a better way to fight poverty at a community luncheon with True Charity co-founder James Whitford.

Dr. Whitford, author of The Crisis of Dependency, will share how the True Charity philosophy is reshaping the fight against poverty by restoring dignity, encouraging personal responsibility, and placing people—not programs—at the center of lasting change. He will also explore how a renewed civil society—churches, nonprofits, and caring neighbors—can lead the way in building communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

You’ll hear real-world examples of empowering models such as food co-ops, Earn-It projects, Christmas markets, work shuttles, performance awards, childcare co-ops, discounted provider networks, and mentorship—practical approaches that strengthen outreach and foster long-term impact.

The luncheon will be held at the R&R Marketplace inside the North County Innovation Center, a hub for innovation and community transformation. Optional facility tours will be available before and after the luncheon—come experience the space for yourself.
