What is True Charity?

True Charity is Actualized

Some good or service is rendered to the poor and outcomes of these efforts are measured to ensure that help is actually making a difference in the community.

Actualized: Making sure your charity makes an actual difference.

True Charity is Accurate

If charity does not empower the poor, it misses the mark. Empowerment is impossible without some aspect of challenge. Challenge develops people.

Accurate: Making sure your charity is aimed at freeing a person from dependency.

True Charity is Authentic

Real charity stems from compassion and cannot be legislated. Government is an institution and cannot be charitable in truth. True charities are privately funded.

Authentic: Making sure your charity is connected to compassion.

How We Work

It’s been said that dependency is merely slavery with a smiling mask. This Initiative endeavors to empower communities to effectively care for their own neighbors in need in a way that empowers them, treats them with dignity and helps them escape the trap of dependency so they can be freed to flourish.

Effective Charity Training

Intensive training sessions for church, charity and not-for-profit leaders exploring 7 marks of effective charity.  This education incorporates both examination and exercise that empowers every attendee to take the first steps in transforming his/her work into a model of True Charity for greater impact. Topics include using the earn-it model to supply the dignity of work, forming relationships that motivate change, effectively identifying what help is needed and others.

True Charity Tools

Tools to improve effectiveness including online software to increase community collaboration, tools and training for efficient assessment and goal setting with clients and, among others, one to help your volunteers build real relationships with clients.

True Charity Certification

Certification is possible when an organization commits to the principles and practices of True Charity. Completing the Effective Charity Training followed with implementation of some True Charity Tools steps an organization through levels of True Charity Certification.  This achievement can be shared both in and beyond your community, with stakeholders, donors and potential new partners.
